Japan donated 700,000 USD to clean mine and uxos in three provinces

  •  On Tuesday, Japan has been donated over 700,000 US dollar to Cambodia to clean mines and uxos in three provinces inclduing Takeo,  Siem Reap and  kampong Speu provinces



    “ This fund will help clean mines and uxos to take land to grow for agricultural crops in these provinces ,”  Japanese ambassador Kuroki Masafumi to Cambodia said after the signing ceremony.  This fund is handing to Japan Mine Action Services (JMAS) to clean mines and uxos, he said, adding that civil war in Cambodia remained mines and uxos covered in 6400 villages in Cambodia that need money to clean it to take land for local community to improve livelihoods for people.  This huamiatrian work also contributed to strengthen bilateral cooepration for two countries –Japan and Cambodia.



    So far this year, we have 100 cases happening in the country,”  Om Phum ro , deputy director general for CMAC told reporters at the ceremony. About 200 people suffered from mines and uxos.
