Tourism Sector Increasing Higher Than Predicted
The Kingdom of Cambodia’s tourism industry this year will perform much better than the government expects thanks in part to Cambodia’s growing popularity as a vacation destination, investment firm Cambodia Capital has said. Total tourist arrivals of foreigners to Cambodia for 2011 will reach 2.85 million visitors for the total revenue of about US$1.98 billion; an increase of 17% and 4% over the Ministry of Tourism’s estimated 2.8 million total tourist arrival and US$1.91 billion in total revenues for this year, respectively.
However, Cambodia Capital described its projection was conservative, according to the firm’s latest research report. The firm pointed the growth as “Vietnam Effect”, a significant number of Vietnamese visited the Kingdom for shorter-duration trips.
